There have been numerous funny incidents that took place in my classroom. But the one that especially stands out occurred last week during lunchtime.
One of my mates is a foodie. While a maximum of us are hesitant in completing our food during lunch break, she is somebody who looks forward to savouring the goodies filled by her mother on a daily purpose. Her lunch is a detailed affair as well. While we would be fighting to gulp down the chapattis with jam or Maggie noodles from our lunchboxes, the very sensation of her opening her lunchbox is a ceremony in itself.
She usually brings a lunchbox with many compartments to carry many dishes that her mother lovingly prepares for her in the dawn. Her lunch, more always than not, compares the comfort food that you would request from a restaurant on your cheat day of dieting!
Last week, while I unlocked my lunchbox to complete my run-of-the-mill pasta, I saw my friend victoriously unveiling her new lunchbox that glanced like a multi-storey building. She then emptied her lunch that comprised of butter chicken and pulao. After she completed eating that, she gave us an academic look while disassembling the different parts of her lunch box and unfolding it on the table. She had certainly got all the ingredients you would need to create a finger-licking Pani puri! And this was how she decided to wrap up her lunch.
While she conscientiously mixed the boiled potatoes, chopped onions, cooked chickpeas, chopped coriander, chutneys, and flavoured pani into the puri, she could have not looked happier! She victoriously finished off the 8 puris in her lunchbox without giving us a bit to taste.
Although this looked like quite a greedy act on her part, we the observers enjoyed the show completely, and could not stop smiling as we remembered about this incident.
